Frequently Asked Questions
We have done our best to answer the most common questions here, but if you do not see an answer to your question, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
-
We will offer all hatching eggs or chicks/ducks to our waitlist members first. While we do not ‘hold’ birds or eggs without a small deposit, we will reach out to the waitlist members to reserve birds or eggs before giving access to the general public.
-
Each breed begins laying at different times in the season. Once they have started laying, we will then start testing for fertility. Once we see very high fertility rates, that’s when we will begin to reach out to waitlist folks. Hatching eggs are not available for every breed, but we do our best to make them available, especially for critical breeds.
-
Each season, we start loading our incubators in early February for some breeds! Available hatch dates are shared when we get closer to hatch, typically ~1-2 weeks out. Stay tuned!

Call ducklings are priced based on color.
Black, Blue, Confetti*: $25
Apricot Silver, Butterscoth, Pastel, Penciled, Snowy, Magpie, White, any Pied, all other colors: $30
*Confetti is just our way of saying “a fun color that doesn’t quite match any one color descriptor.” Often times these ducklings grow up to be some version of bibbed/pied with interesting markings.

We don’t currently offer shipping for live animals, just hatching eggs.
-
All birds are sold as straight run, except Cotton Patch geese (which are an auto-sexing breed).
-
Our farm follows strict biosecurity rules as set out by the NPIP program, which means we are unable to take in birds from sources that are not also NPIP inspected and approved.
-
This year we have worked very hard to join the NPIP program, and are excited to offer hatching eggs and live birds to farms and backyard flock enthusiasts outside of NJ. Per the NPIP program, we practice strict biosecurity on our farm. New Jersey tests for Pullorum-Typhoid and Avian Influenza (H5/H7).
-
Our farm is NPIP# 22-460. We are PT clean and AI H5/H7 clean. You can look us up on the breeder registry for NJ state, which can be found here.

Ducks, Geese, and Chickens thrive in social environments. Where possible, we use minimums to ensure that new hatchlings are able to grow up in small groups that support their development.
For smaller animals (bantam chickens and ducks), we have a minimum of 3. For standard size chickens and ducks, we suggest 3, but our minimum is 2. Auto-sexing geese are sold in pairs.

Hatching Eggs are collected daily and selected for freshness and shell quality before shipment. Orders are shipped on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays to avoid eggs sitting in post office hubs over weekends, using eggs collected as close to the shipping date as possible.
Each order is packed with great care. Eggs are individually wrapped and cushioned within a secure shipping box to help protect them during shipping. When available, extra eggs may be included to help offset the inherent risks of shipping hatching eggs.
To preserve the natural protective bloom, eggs are not washed, and minor dirt or bedding may be present.
Shipped hatching eggs always carry risk. Modern shipping equipment and handling procedures can expose eggs to impact, vibration, temperature fluctuations, and delays that are outside of our control.
Even when eggs arrive intact, these conditions can damage embryos before arrival. This may result in eggs that do not begin developing, start but stop early in incubation, or generally have reduced hatch rates.
Because of these unavoidable variables, we cannot guarantee hatch rates, development, or specific color outcomes. Hatch success depends heavily on carrier handling, incubation equipment, and individual incubation practices. For these reasons, there are no guarantees, refunds, or replacements based on hatch results.
Eggs are produced by actively breeding birds and are fertile when they leave our farm. These are the same eggs used in our own breeding and incubation program.
However, fertility does not guarantee hatch success, particularly with shipped eggs.
Always allow shipped eggs to rest upright in a cool, dark place for 12-24 hours after arrival before setting.
